Chattanooga Home Inspector’s Lead Inspector and Owner Malcolm Godwin answer frequently asked question; “Does a home inspection pass or fail a home sale?

Hey, everybody. My name’s Malcolm Godwin with Chattanooga Home Inspector. Today I’ve been asked to answer a question: Does a home inspection pass or fail a home inspection or a home sale? The answer straightforwardly is no, and here’s why. Our job is to educate our clients on things that are deficient in the house, things that may not work, things that are safety issues, that kind of nature, and present that to you in a nice fashion via a same-day digital report.

So, it’s up to the customer if they want to move forward with purchasing that home. If you’re working with a real estate agent, then it’s their job then to negotiate for you if you want these repairs or a cost reduction of the house. Pretty much everything can always be fixed. It’s just a matter of how much money is that going to take.

Now, you as a client are certainly entitled to do with whatever you want. If there were some problems with the home inspection that are too significant for you to handle, then you don’t have to purchase that home typically. But, our home inspections do not pass or do not fail any home. If you have any other questions, please feel free to reach out to us, 423-284-1510, or visit us on the web at Thank you.
